Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
