The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you may think that there would be very little affinity for visiting Zimbabwe's gambling dens. In fact, it appears to be functioning the opposite way around, with the atrocious economic circumstances creating a greater desire to gamble, to attempt to discover a fast win, a way out of the difficulty.

For most of the locals living on the meager nearby earnings, there are two established forms of betting, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with most everywhere else on the globe, there is a national lottery where the chances of hitting are surprisingly low, but then the jackpots are also surprisingly big. It's been said by market analysts who understand the concept that the lion's share don't purchase a card with a real assumption of profiting. Zimbet is founded on one of the domestic or the British soccer divisions and involves determining the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe's casinos, on the other foot, look after the exceedingly rich of the nation and travelers. Until not long ago, there was a considerably substantial sightseeing business, built on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The market collapse and associated crime have cut into this trade.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just slots. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain gaming tables, slots and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, both of which offer video poker machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling dens and the above mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a pools system), there is a total of two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Seeing as that the market has shrunk by more than 40 percent in the past few years and with the associated poverty and conflict that has resulted, it is not well-known how well the tourist business which funds Zimbabwe's gambling halls will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry through till conditions get better is simply not known.
